Our Kitchen Renovation, Part II: Mood Board, Plans and Inspiration

Inspiration· Room Makeovers

26 Apr

Today I am sharing the mood board I created for our upcoming kitchen remodel (read about the reasons for the renovation and how we selected a contractor here), along with a sneak peek at the design plan and some inspiration photos. We are hoping to achieve a classic look that will stand the test of time, using white cabinetry on the perimeter, with a stained wood island and aged brass accents to warm things up.

A few selections have been set at this point, however, we still have design choices left to make. The perimeter cabinetry will be Benjamin Moore White Dove and the countertops and full-height backsplash will be Taj Mahal quartzite. We have ordered Jenn Air appliances (except for the dishwasher — the existing Bosch will stay as it’s only a couple of years old). The pendant lights are from Rejuvenation, and we are considering their cabinet hardware as well.

We are working with a local custom cabinetry company on this renovation, and their in-house designer helped bring our vision to life. We are excited to have a longer island, a more thoughtful appliance layout, and a buffet/coffee station in place of the old built-in desk! The cabinets will house a number of pull-outs and inserts for easy organizing, which will improve the overall functionality of the kitchen.

The appliances are on order and the cabinetry is in production! Thanks for checking out our kitchen renovation inspiration, and stay tuned for an update in the coming weeks as we dive into packing up the existing kitchen and setting up our “renovation kitchen”.
