Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper: Some Sources and How I Used It

Easy Fixes· Research

6 May

In case you haven’t heard, wallpaper is back! Peel-and-stick wallpaper is a great choice for renters and those with a fear of commitment or who want a DIY to add a pop of color or pattern to a space. As the popularity of peel-and-stick wallpaper has increased, so have the available options. Many of those out there are beautiful, affordable, easy to install and remove, and non-toxic.

Peel-and-stick wallpaper sources

Google “peel-and-stick wallpaper”, and you will net a gazillion results. To make things a bit easier, here is a list of some great sources.

Spoonflower:  Spoonflower offers woven textured papers in an extensive variety of patterns. The patterns run the gamut from geometric to florals to whimsical – you will spend all day browsing through the their selections.

Walls Need Love:  This source has a wide selection with lots of bold designs. They also offer custom murals and helpful information on measuring for and installing wallpaper.

Chasing Paper: Chasing Paper carries many vibrant and whimsical prints, but fewer traditional styles than some other sources. Purchasers can buy a peel-and-stick wallpaper installation kit for a one-stop-shopping experience.

Tempaper:  Tempaper wallpapers feature bold designs, many inspired by nature. They also offer murals and decals as an alternative to traditional patterned rolls. Some of their styles are the result of designer collaborations.

Rifle Paper Co:  The paper goods company you know and love offers wallpaper. Think richly colored florals and botanicals that you expect from the brand, plus papers with simpler patterns and textured solids.

NuWallpaper by Wall Pops:  There is a wide variety of styles represented here, with many color and pattern choices. NuWallpaper is available from a number of retailers, so shop around for best pricing.

Finally, Amazon, Home Depot, Wayfair, Etsy, etc. all carry peel-and-stick wallpaper in many styles and prints from various brands.  You can definitely make some great finds at one of these sources; however, research the brand before purchasing as you will have less access to samples and customer service at the mega retailers.

how i used it

In April 2020, I was feeling a bit cooped up (understatement) and, on a whim, decided to paper the backs of our glass-front kitchen cabinets. I purchased this faux grasscloth paper and in about an hour completed the project using only an x-acto knife, pencil, tape measure, and credit card (for smoothing out air bubbles).

Yes, I need to polish the julep cups. via Christine H Collins.
A closeup. The paper itself is vinyl and very smooth, but looks like real texture.

future project?

I saw this one recently and fell in love. We have a bit of a thing for great blue herons around here as we frequently spot them by the pond in our yard. Maybe for the interior of the pantry or lining drawers? Have you tried peel-and-stick wallpaper? Share your experience and favorite ways to use it in the comments!
