Hello, and welcome! I’m Christine, a (former?) lawyer and home design and organization enthusiast. While I have always loved beautiful and livable spaces, there have been times that I have felt that I lacked the creativity and knowledge to make my own home look and feel the way I wanted it to.
As a student, I gravitated towards subjects and skills that were formula- and rules-based. Diagram a sentence? No problem! Find the area under the curve? Sure! Similarly, in my career as an attorney, the task that came most naturally to me was drafting contracts. No on-the-fly courtroom arguments, just concise, unambiguous, plain-English contracts.
Perhaps not surprisingly, even as early as my teenage years, I was rather Type-A in maintaining my living spaces. In high school, I chose the paint color for my bedroom (and painted it myself). In college, my immaculate dorm room shocked and awed friends’ parents during Parents’ Weekend. And in law school, I spent several weekends scouring every affordable home furnishings store in town looking for the perfect cheap couch for my apartment living room.
Over time, I have come to realize that there is no formula for making your house a home. I have become less rigid, with fewer rules, and the enjoyment I find in designing and organizing my home has increased dramatically. It is not about copying the beautiful spaces in shelter magazines and Instagram; rather, it is about understanding a home’s needs, being inspired by different styles, and learning some tricks of the trade. My mission here is to bring the same to you. No one-size-fits-all advice, just accessible ideas and inspiration to help you elevate your home.
Although I am not a professional designer or an accomplished DIY-er, I will do the research, find the inspiration, and share all of it with you. Thank you for being here.
