I recently discovered Park & Oak Interior Design, and have not been able to pull myself away from their portfolio, blog, and Instagram feed. The firm does an amazing job using contrast, highlighting (or creating) architectural features in a space, and mixing the traditional with pieces with a more modern feel. Their attention to detail and use of quality materials give their designs a certain timelessness. As a plus, their blog’s Weekly Edit series features beautiful home and lifestyle treats: décor, recipes, fashion, and things to watch and read.

Can you believe that this kitchen is in a new build?!? There are so many details to notice in this space. The vintage-style pendants give it a patina that helps it feel timeless. The hutch area with the sink is so good — the tile backsplash, the hardware, and the mix of dark and stained cabinetry ground the space and are a beautiful focal point. The stools bring in more wood tones and texture. On the far right, you’ll spy art over the range, giving a bit of color and warmth to the slightly more utilitarian area of the kitchen.
The bathroom above is so quietly elegant. The wood floors, woven window treatment, and vintage rug bring warmth and texture. The vaulted ceiling and applied mouldings are architectural details that elevate the room and make it feel more special. The paint color and addition of greenery near the tub enhance the soothing effect.
This kitchen/breakfast nook view is lovely. The kitchen has great light and the wood island gives it warmth without feeling dark or heavy. Speaking of dark, the paint color in the nook makes it cozy and distinct from the kitchen, while the large windows and light-colored banquette and tabletop brighten the space up. The chandelier and table are modern takes on classic looks that bring a balance of old and new. Finally, the wood ceiling in the nook and the way the arch of the case opening mirrors the arch of the windows are fantastic architectural details.
This cocktail room invites you to linger over cocktails and conversation. The cabinetry is substantial enough to hold all of your entertaining needs, but painting it the same color as the walls makes it recede into the background. This allows the room’s other features, such as the ceiling treatment and lighting, to take center stage. The light fixture dropping down from the opening in the ceiling is a showstopper.
This office space is amazing. The height of the room and the windows are impressive, and the drapes and the decision to paint the walls and trim the same color highlight them perfectly. There are many straight lines and angles in this space, and the use of the hide rug softens all those lines. The black desk and dark upholstered chair provide nice contrast in the bright and airy room.
