Inspiration

11 Dec

If you were living on a remote desert island for the last six months or so, it’s possible that you may have missed this dreamy property designed by Weeth Home:

Avondale (exterior) by Weeth Home

The estate was featured in Veranda and has been all over social media. Everyone, it seems, has been pinning and sharing, understandably so. I too was smitten with the design and went to Weeth Home’s website to explore. I found a lovely portfolio that includes more photos of this Easton, MD home than were featured in the Veranda piece, as well as other projects chock full of design inspiration. So go ahead and give Weeth Home a follow on Instagram, and scroll down for some eye candy!

The historic 40-acre property on the Eastern Shore of Maryland is an amazing setting with stunning views. Weeth Home ensured that the interior design paid homage to the home’s history yet is warm and livable.

You’ll note detailed millwork, historical details, and a mix of antique and modern pieces throughout.

I love the marble apron at the kitchen sink. It gives farmhouse sink vibes, but in a much more sophisticated way (and without being the ubiquitous farmhouse sink!)

You can absolutely get a sense of the history of the home — beams, stone, old fireplaces. The house is immense, yet each space feels quaint and cozy.

The juxtaposition of the updated and the historic is so well done. In the study/office/library (which screams ship’s captain’s lair, don’t you think?), which features a number of historic-looking elements, there are more contemporary pieces that balance the old and the new.

Below is a sampling of a few other projects in Weeth Home’s portfolio. While the design of these spaces can be broadly classified as updated traditional, Weeth Home is not married to one specific interpretation of a style.
