We are in Week 1,853 of our kitchen renovation (just kidding, it’s Week 6) and I am updating you on the progress of the project. I will be honest, it has been a bit of a slog, particularly the first four weeks. A lot happened, but it seemed like not much got done. It was prep and demo, then electrical, then plumbing, then HVAC, then drywall, then electrical, then drywall. And the dust was no joke. Even with floor protection and plastic in the doorways, the dust found its way all over the house.
There was a shift last week. Our contractor installed the lower cabinets and towers, including hardware. On Friday afternoon, our contractor sent over a cleaning crew after work was complete for the week. While we sat on the porch with a beverage, the cleaners spent two hours cleaning the entire downstairs. Just as we were about to lose it with the clutter and dust, those angels arrived and didn’t only tackle dust, they embossed the toilet paper and wiped dog snout prints off the windows.
Now without further ado, here are some progress shots for you!
Today is a big day. The stone guys are installing the countertops any minute now. After that, it’s off to the races, as our contractor has set a completion date of two weeks from today! There is still much to be done, but I am confident hopeful that the team we have in place can pull it all together in that short amount of time.
I look forward to sharing the final reveal with you! If you missed my previous posts on our renovation, you can read about how we chose our contractor, take a peek at our mood board and design plan, and get tips on preparing for construction.

Hi Christine!
Very happy to see progress in your kitchen!! Sure you can’t wait to get your life back to some state of normal. Certainly not fun to find construction dust absolutely everywhere. But it really does look beautiful! Looking forward to seeing the finished product! Stay hopeful!
P.S. Your music selections are right on point!

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement! The finish line is close but we are impatient to get there. Thankfully, plumbing fixtures were hooked up late last week so we can wash dishes again using a sink and faucet made for that purpose, as opposed to in the guest room bathtub! 🙂
